The riff you hear in the track has had many incarnations in many songs over two decades. It was the perfect backdrop for a spontaneous poem about the fate of the music business with its new DIY ethic and corporate devaluing via commodification. except its not that. its some ego-tripping at the gates of a defunct record company finally suggesting that the company sign THEIR contract / pre-fab agreement !
